Season’s Greetings!
Today we celebrate the official start of winter and the countdown to Christmas. The holidays look much different than usual this year and I reflect on just how much has even changed since my last message only eight weeks ago. During these challenging times, there is still much to be celebrated and I’m pleased to share some good news with you.
Inclusion, diversity, equity, access and a commitment to transparency are core values of the AFP Greater Vancouver Chapter. I am pleased to announce an exciting change to our job postings policy, effective January 1, 2021.
In order to promote gender and racial pay equity, we will now be requiring that a salary range be included for all job posting on the AFP Greater Vancouver website. This will make negotiations easier for both employer and candidate and will also help save time and resources for employers by ensuring that those who apply are candidates whose skills, experience and salary expectations align with the requirements of the role.
In addition, research has shown that posting the salary range increases the reach and attention ads receive by 30%. AFP Greater Vancouver job postings are an effective way for employers to reach qualified applicants, committed to the sector and we thank all past, present and future employers who choose to post with us.
If you haven’t had a chance to see it already, please have a look at the Business in Vancouver Philanthropy Magazine at https://biv.com/magazine/philanthropy-2020. Not only does it showcase our outstanding 2020 Giving Hearts Awards nominees but includes some valuable articles on giving in British Columbia. Authors include our very own AFP Past Presidents David Love and Jennifer Johnstone.

From all of us here at AFP Greater Vancouver – we wish you and your families our very best for the holiday season. May 2021 be filled with hope, happiness, good health, and prosperity. We are thinking of all of those enduring through these times. If there’s something we can do to help you, please let us know.
AFP is a strong community – please reach out to each other and we look forward to connecting with you in 2021.
