The AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising Course provides an extensive overview of the foundation of fundraising to help fundraising professionals meet the real-world needs and challenges that nonprofit organizations face every day. Expertly designed by AFP Global for fundraisers with 0–4 years of experience, the course covers current information and techniques across the fundamental areas of fundraising.

The course takes place over two full days and includes seven key modules, all taught by expert fundraisers in the local community. Full participation is applicable for 16.0 points of CFRE credit.

4. Building and Sustaining Relationships
5. Securing the Gift
6. Volunteers – Partners in Fundraising
7. Management and Accountability

Note: Light snacks and coffee will be provided each day, and participants are welcome to bring their own lunch or explore the various food provider options on site.

Accessibility:

  • Location: Burnaby Hospital, 3935 Kincaid Street, Burnaby, BC V5G 2X6 – Boardroom #1271 - located on Level 1, Support Facilities Building expansion
  • What accessibility features are available at this event? The hospital is equipped and built for wheelchair accessibility in all public areas.
  • Is the venue accessible (e.g., wheelchair accessible entrance, elevators, accessible washrooms? There are five washrooms near the boardroom, and one of them is wheelchair accessible.
  • Where is the closest available parking, nearest transit stop/station? Hospital parkades: two locations: A) Main Parkade; B) East Parkade. These two parkades are both located on Kincaid Street (side by side) as they are connected. Visitors will have to pay the parking fee (via the apps or pay at the meter machine) once parked. Follow directions to enter the hospital building. Public Transit – pick-up/drop-off location is located at the new building – East Entrance.
  • Are there any accommodations available for presentations/speakers (e.g., captions, ASL interpretation, quiet spaces)? Unfortunately, we do not provide ASL interpretation and captions during the presentation at the hospital. The hospital has a sanctioned room for patients or visitors who require a designated area for any religious expression or gathering, etc.
  • What should participants know to best prepare for accessibility needs (venue set up - will there be seating, enough space to move around; scent free)? The room is a mid-size approximately to seat 30 people, subject to the room set-up. If wheelchair access is required, please ensure to let us know as we will have to adjust the room set-up accordingly & prior to the event dates. The hospital is a scent-free environment under the Fraser Health Authority policy.
