ABOUT ROYAL COLUMBIAN HOSPITAL

Royal Columbian provides the highest level of care to the most critically ill and injured from throughout the region and province. We are a provincial referral centre for cardiac care, trauma, neurosciences, high-risk maternity, neonatal intensive care, and mental health. No other hospital in the province provides this level of care, or offers all these services, on one site or in such high volumes.

Right now, Royal Columbian is undergoing a $1.49 billion multi-year, multi-phase redevelopment. This is one of the largest government-funded health care redevelopments in BC’s history.

Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation (RCHF) is an independent charitable organization that raises millions of dollars each year to fund major projects, priority equipment needs, facility enhancements, research, education and innovation at RCH.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Joining a team of passionate, collaborative fundraisers supporting one of BC’s leading critical care hospitals, the Development Assistant, Leadership Giving, will provide key administrative support to the Vice President & Chief Development Officer and the Leadership Giving team.

KEY AREAS OF INVOLVEMENT

Calendar and Schedule Management
Prioritizes emails, manages daily schedules, and coordinates meetings.
Communication
Acts as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including volunteers and donors.

Meetings
Makes all necessary arrangements for meetings, including preparing agendas, distributing materials, and taking minutes.

Donor Stewardship
Coordinates and assists with donor stewardship and recognition activities.

Events
Provides logistical and administrative support for Leadership Giving events.

Tours
Acts as a liaison with healthcare providers to coordinate curated hospital tours.

Office Administration
Provides coverage during vacations, lunches, and other absences.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
Five (5) years minimum experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in executive administration and/or fundraising.
Familiarity with MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook and Raiser's Edge.
Specific knowledge relating to major giving and experience in a health care environment are assets.

PROFESSIONAL/TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with donors, hospital staff, and leadership volunteers.
  • An excellent “customer service” attitude.
  • Excellent project management skills with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Team-oriented with a commitment to fostering a positive work culture.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a busy environment and work well under pressure.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
