Monthly Membership Newsletter – June Edition

Dear Members,

Another month has come and gone and somehow half the year is almost gone.

Looking back to AFP ICON, I had the opportunity to share our chapter’s IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) workplan to chapter representatives from across North America. Greater Vancouver is regularly seen as a leader in advancing AFP’s strategic plan and I’m so proud to have so many dedicated individuals who are leading all of our committees.

As you will see in this newsletter, AFP Global has announced that membership prices are increasing as of August 4, 2025, for Professional and Associate members (Young Professionals and Organizational Memberships are not changing). Half of the increase will be coming back to our chapter for professional development events, scholarships, and other programming. You can lock in current pricing for 1, 2, 3, or 5 years before August 4, even if your renewal date isn’t until after August. Renew online and take advantage of the savings!

I hope to see you at one of our upcoming Pro-D events, otherwise enjoy your summer!

In best health,

Kyle Tiney, CFRE
President, AFP Greater Vancouver Chapter

Government Relations

On Thursday June 19, AFP Greater Vancouver will be participating in the BC Budget 2026 Consultation process. We will be asking the province to invest $30M in the Community Prosperity Fund, an existing funding mechanism held at various Community Foundations across the province.

Last year marked the first time since 2022 that the Province did not provide new unrestricted funding for our sector. This $30M figure represents a 20% increase compared to the province’s past investment in 2024. It also mirrors one of the asks being presented to the Province by the BC Non-Profit Network.

On the federal level, AFP Canada continues to assess the impact of the recent election and determine next steps in continuing to engage with the Government in our efforts to establish a dedicated secretariat for the Charitable Sector. Near the end of May, Prime Minister Carney released his mandate letter, which focuses on building Canada’s economy, lowering cost of living, increasing housing affordability, securing Canada’s borders and making government more efficient. If your organization addresses any of these issues, there may be funding opportunities for you in the coming months.

Job Posting Rate Changes

We’re writing to let you know that, starting July 1, our job posting rates will be increasing for the first time in over five years. Throughout that time—including during the COVID-19 pandemic—we’ve proudly kept our rates affordable for the AFP community.

After reviewing rates across AFP chapters in Canada, we found that even as one of the larger chapters, our rates remain among the lowest. To continue delivering high-quality service and value, we’re making the following adjustments:

  • AFP Members: $175 + GST → $200 + GST
  • Non-Members: $200 + GST → $300 + GST

We remain committed to supporting our members. As an added benefit, job postings are now featured in our monthly newsletter—giving your opportunities even more visibility.

Thank you for your continued support!
