Dear AFP Greater Vancouver Members,
It’s a pleasure to introduce myself in my new role as VP, Community Engagement with AFP Greater Vancouver. I first became involved with the chapter as a volunteer on the National Philanthropy Day committee, and that experience gave me a firsthand look at the incredible energy, collaboration, and generosity within our community of fundraising professionals. I’m honoured to now serve on the board and support the chapter in bringing our community together.
Planning is already underway for this year’s National Philanthropy Day and the Giving Hearts Awards on Friday, November 13th, and we are currently recruiting volunteer committee members to help bring this signature celebration to life. Each year, National Philanthropy Day shines a spotlight on the generosity and leadership that strengthen our communities, while the Giving Hearts Awards recognize the individuals and organizations making a meaningful impact across our region.
Serving on the organizing committee is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to a high-profile and inspiring event while connecting with peers across the sector and expanding your professional network. We are looking for volunteers in several areas, including sponsorship, marketing, nominations, program development, and event experience.
If you’re interested in getting involved, I encourage you to consider joining the committee, or sharing this opportunity with someone in your organization who may be looking to deepen their engagement with the philanthropic community.
Thank you for being part of such a passionate and dedicated network of fundraising professionals. I look forward to celebrating philanthropy together in the months ahead.
Warm regards,
Antonia Kalmacoff Jennings
Vice President, Community Engagement
P.S. Keep an eye out for upcoming announcements about nominations and other ways to participate in this year’s celebration. ✨
What Does AI Really Mean for Fundraising?
The AI Advantage: Powering the Future of Smarter Giving
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how organizations create content, analyze data, and connect with supporters.
But what does that actually mean for fundraisers and where does human insight still matter most?
Join AFP Greater Vancouver on April 8 for a conversation exploring how AI is shaping fundraising strategy, storytelling, and donor engagement.
Hear from Darren Rayner (Founder, Magnafire) Mel Greene (Director at BrainStation) and Meena Das, (CEO of Namaste Data and founder of the AI Equity Project) as they share perspectives on navigating AI thoughtfully in the fundraising sector.

Volunteer Testimonial
Looking for a meaningful way to grow your leadership skills while giving back to the fundraising community? We’re currently seeking volunteers to join our IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access) Committee.
Volunteering with an AFP committee is a great way to connect with peers, contribute to important initiatives, and help shape a more inclusive and supportive sector.
As Kevin Chi, CFRE, former Co-Chair of the AFP IDEA Committee, shares in this testimonial, serving on the committee created opportunities to learn, lead with empathy, and help foster a stronger, more inclusive community within AFP.

If you’re passionate about making an impact and building relationships with fellow fundraisers, consider getting involved with an AFP committee. More details below.
Volunteer Opportunities

We’re recruiting for Chair, Co‑Chair, and committee roles — opportunities designed to create impact, spark collaboration, and strengthen our local fundraising community.
To support our volunteer leaders, we’ve introduced a new, shared Chair and Co‑Chair position description that outlines common leadership expectations, along with committee‑specific descriptions that reflect the unique work of each team.
No matter where you are in your career, your perspective is valued. Bring your ideas, your energy, and your passion for making a difference.
