Dear Members,
Happy Ethics Awareness Month!
This month I would like to take the opportunity to celebrate you for being resilient. This is the second holiday season we have been faced with potential postal strikes impacting our fundraising strategies and yet we always find a way to evolve and get the job done while continuing to build trust and loyalty with our donors.
As we head into the final months of the year, I hope you take pride in the creativity and determination you bring to your work every day. On behalf of the entire Board, thank you for what you do for your organizations and our community every day.
Lastly, there are lots of incredible initiatives happening over the next few months that I hope you will participate in. Our scholarships for next year’s AFP ICON are open, National Philanthropy Day is coming up in 4 short weeks, and our chapter’s AGM & Social is coming up at the end of November. More details on these are below.
With appreciation,
Kyle Tiney, CFRE
President, AFP Greater Vancouver Chapter
October is Ethics Awareness Month 🧭
At AFP Greater Vancouver, we believe ethical fundraising is the foundation of trust, transparency, and impact. This October, we’re joining AFP chapters across the globe in recognizing Ethics Awareness Month — a time to reflect on the values that guide our work and recommit to the highest standards in our profession.
Whether you’re navigating donor relationships, managing data, or leading a campaign, ethics matter. We encourage all members to revisit the AFP Code of Ethical Standards and explore how these principles support integrity and accountability in fundraising.
Let’s continue to lead with purpose and uphold the trust our communities place in us.

Government Relations
I would like to draw your attention to the current work that AFP Canada is conducting regarding the ongoing Canada Post Strike:
- Tapping into our 3,000 members, an article has been published highlighting the work that AFP Canada is doing nationally and some proactive steps you and your organization can take to mitigate its impact.
- AFP Canada is also conducting a survey, to assess the impact of the strike on our sector. We have been using data points from surveys like these to engage with Members of Parliament and their staff about various issues and member responses are invaluable.
As we enter November, we can look forward to seeing the Federal Budget (November 4th) and truly get a better understanding of the Carney government.
